I wonder what personality traits most stitchers have in common? It seems that most I've run into are pretty well-rounded and many are also readers (or maybe this is a subset of stitchers that are also into the internet/blogging?).

Based on the list below, I think I read a decent amount, but some of it is literary junk food. I think it's OK when it's in balance with the other things, but it still made me think about this bit Henry Rollins does on wanting to date a "reader" and the amount of Harry Potter books on my list! (NSFW language).
It also made me think about a statistic I heard that 80% of US families did not purchase or read a book last year, which makes me kind of sad. My family has always been into reading (the photo above is from my Grandpa's book shelf) and my Mom started teaching me when I was really little. I was a solitary kid and reading was (and is) one of my favorite ways to escape.

What are you reading now? What's a good book you'd recommend?
Right now I'm reading Cool It; it's basically a scientist's point of view that going after global warming won't have a very large impact and we'd be better off focusing our efforts (and money) on things we can actually change.
Two books I'd recommend are 1)Just Six Numbers and 2) Aztec. Just Six Numbers is about the forces in our universe that allow our planet to be here. It made my brain hurt to think in more than 3 dimensions and some of the interesting things that would happen if one of those "6 numbers" were tweaked slightly. I like it when my brain hurts! Aztec is amazing historical fiction (but really well researched) about the Mexica civilization before the Spanish arrived.
